DIY SOS Project in Yangon
This year the team are planning a DIY SOS project in the children's home in Yangon, Myanmar.
A large team of people from various parts of the UK will travel out to the country at the end of October to redecorate the children's bedrooms and provide new duvets and pyjamas for them.
While decorating is taking place the children will be taken to a theme park, have an exciting sleep over and a day of entertainment. On returning to their home it will be a big surprise for them.
This is going to be a big project that will require a lot of funding, so any donations will be very much appreciated
Activate Us has been working with a children’s home in Yangon since it was first established, however links were made back in 2010 when members of the charity were invited to visit on a mission trip with ActionOverseas to the opening of the home. They have visited the home on a yearly basis ever since then. In 2017 two of the trustees were made ‘Project Coordinators’ of the Yangon Children’s Village by ActionOverseas who along with Stand By Me manage the home.
Activate Us have supported many projects over the last seven years, raising money through dance shows, collecting in piggy money boxes and other events.
The charity are closely linked with a local dance school who have made so many of these projects possible, including;
- Buying bicycles for the home
- Purchasing two transformers
- Providing money for buses to take them to church and on outings
- Trips out
- Providing resources such as books and craft materials
- General repairs
